How Did I Research
My Family Tree?

1. Step One: Buy Family Tree Maker -- There is no question here. This is will become your genealogical "bible." It is simply the best software out there. Click THIS LINK to get all the details.

2. Step Two: Join Ancestry.com. You used to have to travel to libraries across the country. With Ancestry.com, you can view just about any genealogical record out there. It's amazing. Even thousands of newspapers are online from the 1800s to now so you can see if an ancestor was ever mentioned in the paper, whether in an obit or for being mayor.

3. Step Three: Research reading material at this Online Genealogical Book and Software Store.

4. Step Four: Finally, once you have your genealogy to a point where you are happy with it, place it online like I have done, using GEDHTree. It's amazing.

My brother, Israel Dupont -- who now runs his own theatre troupe in West Palm Beach and is a renowned stage actor -- started working on the family tree many years ago. But without the usage of the Internet and the ability to fly over the country to research material, his tree could go back only so far.

In 1997, I got the genealogy bug and bought Family TreeMaker Deluxe to begin researching my family tree. I now have more than 1,900 names and was able to find relatives through the Internet. In some cases, I has to buy certain Books and Software.

The end result? Here is my surname index, complete with interactive family tree.
