According to "Civil War Soldiers from Brunswick County, Virginia:"
Franklin Pierce Wray was one of the volunteer mail carriers in Brunswick
County after the Civil War when, for several years, little public mail
service was provided. As shown above, he was the postmaster at White
Plains beginning 9 August 1869 and served for a time here. He later
served again beginning 23 June 1898.
Franklin Wray, who never married, was a dry goods merchant in Brunswick
county around 1880. In his late years, he moved to Newport News,
Virginia. He lies buried at Drewry's Bluff.
