From Ray Sasser: She is thought to be a sister of Benjamin Cooper. She outlived Zebulon and later married John Brassell in about 1740.

From Ray Sasser: (Christened 10/22/1699 - Christ Church Parish) d. between 9 Aug - 9 Oct 1738. Zebulon Lewis's will was written Aug. 6, 1738, and proved in Isle of Wight County, Oct. 23, 1738. Will Book 4, page 215. He moved to Isle of Wight County, Virginia about 1726, along with his brother Joshua Lewis.
From Genforum: Benjamin Lewis was the son of Zebulon Lewis of Brunswick Co. whose will, made April 10, 1789, was proved in that county June 24, 1799. Lucy Gray Lewis, one of his daughters, married Thomas Hicks, of Brunswick Co., as his first wife and had one son Edwin Hicks, who died in early manhood. She had a brother Edwin Lewis for whom the son was probably named.

He was drafted as a Militia man in the year 1780, and served a tour of three months. He then served several different 6 week tours substituting for other men, which was allowed in those times. He was at the siege of Yorktown at the surrender of Cornwallis, and he knew Gen. LaFayette by sight.

1787 Brunswick county, Va Tax List B only shows one Seward. Benjamin Seward is listed but no persanal property shown as to what was taxed.

Possible child is John Seward, abt 1806, but there are questions about him.
Swenson and Ingmire, Fayette County (TN) Court Orders, pp. 15 and156. A probate file is the source that lists all his children in one place. It is a "Petition filed in Probate Court of Fayette County (says VA, but should be TN), 18 Sep 1895 against J.T. Braswell, deceased, by heirs." (FayetteCo., VA had ceased to exist by this date).

He is listed as a 'hand' on the 1840-1844 Fayette County, Tenn Court Minute Book B, 'Stage Road from LaGrange to L Kidd's'. This is probably his father-in-law's home.
He is listed as administrator of estate of Jesse Redd and minor child, Jesse Redd, Jr. Child was later adopted by David W Sumner(?) with oaths by Cargill and William J Driver and Washington Ivey.
Buried: Seward Cemetery, Eads, Tennnessee.
1860 Tenn Mortality Schedule: Died of 'dropsy', age 53 (conflicts with other records).
