According to "Civil War Soldiers from Brunswick County, Virginia:"
On 17 September 1914, Edward's wife, Cornelia, living at Ebony, applied
for a Civil War widow's pension. In her pension application, she recalled
Edward's service in Captain Epes' battery and also in the Quartermaster
Department of the Confederate Army.
Cornelia was still living in July 1923 at the time a census was made of
surviving Confederate veterans and widows. Living at White Plains, she
gave her age at 70 years. She died 15 August 1925.
