2.  BENJAMIN LAXTON2 WRIGHT (WRIGHT1) was born 1878, and died May 11, 1926 in Richmond, Virginia.  He married (1) LILLY BELL DELBRIDGE.  He married (2) HATTIE MOSELY. 

Notes for BENJAMIN LAXTON WRIGHT: 
He and a friend were painting a freight elevator at Old Memorial Hospital in Richmond when the friend hit a button that started the elevator moving. His friend jumped out when the elevator passed the 2nd floor. When the elevator passed the third floor, Benjamin tried to jump out but got caught as the elevator passed by. He was crushed and killed. "He was rolled up like a newspaper," his daughter said of how he died.

3.  NORA ELLEN3 WRIGHT (BENJAMIN LAXTON2, WRIGHT1) was born June 22, 1906.  She married WILLIAM FRANKLIN LADD August 06, 1924 in Richmond, Virginia. 

Notes for NORA ELLEN WRIGHT: 
Nora actually knew the sisters of her soon-to-be-husband, who was 48 (and she was 18). She first saw him from her window when he was walking into the house to talk to her Dad.  She called him a "rascal" when she first saw him. He kept coming back night after night, their first "date" being a car  trip to get ice cream. In that car trip, Benjamin asked her if she had a boyfriend. Nora jokingly replied, "I don't have ANY friends." They laughed. Then William said, "I'll be your boyfriend." One month after first meeting, they married. 

Nora tells the story of William going to ask her Dad if they can marry. 

"I'm going to ask him to have you," he said. 

"You can ask him, but he'll say no," she replied. 

So William and Nora's Dad met in the back yard. He came back in. 

"What did he say?" 

"He said our ages are far apart." 

"What did you say to that?" 

"I said, 'We'll manage.'"

Notes for RUBIN JOSEPH LADD: 
He died when a guard shot him in the head at South Hampton Farm, a place where minor offenders are sent. Apparently, Rubin was driving the car when a friend got out and stole oil from a gas station. Rubin said he was not aware his friend took the oil, but the courts put Rubin at South Hampton Farm for six months. That's where he got shot. 

His mom, Nora, doesn't know why he was shot.

She returned to her first love.
