These have been handpicked by me (a crazy fan) from dozens of Websites and placed in one area for easy browsing

I grew to love Spider-Man. His alter ego, Peter Parker, was just like me.

Spider-Man was a nerd. So was I.

Spider-Man had crushes on all these beautiful women who wouldn't give him the time of day. I had the same problem.

Ummm, come to think of it, I still have all those problems.

Seriously, reading comic books is what influenced me into becoming a journalist. Mentally, I got to "travel" to all these exotic places in the comic books and wanted to do that in that real life. I stopped collecting comic books in college because I was spending $50 to $100 a week and couldn't afford it.

But to this day, I still love to buy a good comic book, particularly a Spider-Man one, and get lost in its pages. If only a radioactive spider would bite me.

Key Spider-Man Pages On My Site

Get the comic book "Bible" that tells you how much your collection is worth. Buy the Overstreet Price Guide.
  • Spider-Man Screensaver! -- Would you like to surprise your child? Or treat yourself? Then check out my free, downloadable screensaver, featuring 35 photos of Spider-Man, the Spider-Man ride and Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure Marvel Superhero Island.
Downloads -- Here are two great downloads:
  • Spider-Man DeskPlayer (579KB) -- This simple install program puts Spider-man on your screen, literally running and jumping around. He will run from your cursor, kick the screen and even take your picture. You can turn him off anytime but he's fun to keep around, particularly if you want to annoy your friends. Simply download the program, then double-click on it to begin the installation process. I can't find this program on the Web any longer. But when I downloaded it, I seem to remember that it worked with Windows 95, 98, ME and 2000. (And a few daring souls have written me to let me know that it works fine on Windows XP, too.) However, it doesn't work on a Mac.
  • Spider-Man World Trade Center Movie Trailer ( 21 MB) -- This is the movie trailer that shows Spider-man capturing bad guys in a giant Web strung between the two World Trade Center Towers. It was pulled off the Web for sensitivity reasons. Now it's a wonderful tribute to the long-lasting image of the towers. This Quicktime movie has been "zipped" using Winzip. It's a large, 22-megabyte file.
My Collection

I have nearly 4,000 comic books, all of which I collected in the 1980s and early 1990s. I stopped collecting comic books on a regular basis when I was spending $50 to $100 a week. I just couldn't afford it.

All my comic books are in acid-free plastic bags, which sit in acid-free boxes. Almost every comic book I own is in fine or near-mint condition. Here are some key links about my collection:

  • All Comic Books, A-M: This is a listing of every comic book I own that begins with letters in the alphabet between A & M.
  • All Comic Books, N-Z: This is a listing of every comic book I own that begins with letters in the alphabet between M & Z.
  • My Most Cherished Comic Book Item: I was working for a newspaper in the late 1980s when the press kits were sent out, announcing Spider-Man's marriage to Mary Jane Watson. The press kit included an invitation to the "marriage ceremony" at Shea Stadium, as well as a group shot of Spider-Man and other Marvel characters standing on Shea Stadium's field. Marvel even sent a copy of the original drawing that designer Willi Smith (now deceased) had sketched for Mary Jane Watson's wedding gown. (You can see all this by clicking on the link.)
  • Spider-Man Movie Posters -- 1977 & 2002!: Through eBay, I bought the movie posters for the 1977 and 2002 Spider-Man movies and had them placed into a single frame. The 2002 Spider-Man poster is particularly valuable because the World Trade Center is reflected in Spider-Man's eyes and the Chrysler building is pictured. (There was a trademark issue about the Chrysler building being in the poster.) These two posters together are so valuable that the frame shop where I took the two kept the work on the posters covered so that the public couldn't see.
