Utah Wallpaper & Photos

You stand in awe for the first few minutes when you begin hiking the mountains of Utah. Then you get giddy as you realize you're in for an afternoon of discovery and personal achievement. And when you finally conquer the mountain and return to Earth, you can hear the mountains calling you -- asking you to return.

Visiting Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah was a profound experience for me. Centuries ago, the Native Americans of Utah called the mountains mystical. I agree.

I will go back.

(I must give special, heartfelt thanks to Garie & Ken Short, who introduced me to the mountains of Utah and made my time there truly unforgettable.)

Utah Just outside of Salt Lake City is a mountain being mined for copper. The hole in the top of the mountain is so big that it can be seen from the Space Shuttle. This is a view from the top, looking down into it. Larger Photo For Viewing
Utah This view of Dead Horse Point at Canyonlands National Park shows you a distant, weathered mountain peak, as well as the Colorado River.

I lied on my back and shot down the length of my body for this shot at Dead Horse Point State Park. The tree and distant mountains are framed by a crooked log.

This is, by far and away, my best overall shot. I'm getting this framed for my office. It's a crooked tree on a rock hill, contrasted with a blue sky at Dead Horse Point State Park.
